Wild Pride was born from the deep knowing that spending time outdoors provides numerous health and wellbeing benefits for people, but those with marginalised and underrepresented identities often don’t get the same opportunities to access the outdoors as compared to others.

Wild Pride aims to create a safe space for queer and takatāpui people to come together, get to know each other, get to know themselves and get to build a relationship with Te Taiao, the natural environment that sustains and surrounds us.

Our pillars

Creating conditions for healing

Community centred, queer centred, wholeness based practices. A substance free, nature based event with space for grief, joy and the full spectrum of human emotion.

Connection based practices

Connecting to the earth and to each other through games, ritual, art, meditation, adventure and more.

Centring lived experience

The multitude of different queer experiences at the heart of everything we do. The invitation to show up as your full self, shaped by your experiences.

Shifting (personal) narratives

Listening to indigenous history, queer ecology and Te Taiao (the environment): you are and have always been natural. We have always been here.
